Photo Social Stories

Social interactions can be challenging for neurodiverse children, especially those with ASD, because they may not always grasp the unspoken "rules" of social behavior. These Photo Social Stories are designed to make learning social and emotional skills easier by breaking these rules into simple, understandable lessons. The stories guide kids in learning how to recognize emotions, understand social expectations, and respond appropriately.

Each story focuses on helping children understand:

• Which social cues to pay attention to
• What emotions are common in different situations
• What actions are expected in each scenario
• How to react in a socially acceptable manner
• A simple explanation of the situation

To use these stories, an adult shows a card and reads the short story aloud. The stories are written in clear, first-person language and are followed by key points and thought-provoking questions that encourage conversation. These questions help children relate the stories to their own experiences, making it easier  for them to apply the lessons in their daily lives.
