Product details

The Social & Emotional Interactive Binder is an excellent resource for helping children who struggle to recognize emotions or respond appropriately in social settings. It supports important CASEL skills like self-awareness, emotion regulation, understanding others, building relationships, and making thoughtful decisions. This binder is handy for students who struggle with social communication, especially those with autism, using effective techniques to help them grow.

The binder contains 116 engaging cards that teach children how to react in everyday social situations and understand their feelings. It’s divided into two main parts:

Part 1: Social Language Cards – This section features 48 colorful cards that guide students on how to respond in different social contexts. Each card shows a situation, and the suggested response appears when the card is flipped. For example, "What should you say when you want someone to pass the milk?" or "How should you ask for a pencil politely?" These cards help students learn how to communicate in a respectful and friendly way.

Part 2: Feelings and Emotions Cards – This section includes 68 colorful cards that help children recognize and label different emotions. The cards help students identify emotions like happy, sad, angry, or calm in various situations (e.g., "You dropped your ice cream" or "You found money in your pocket"). There are also cards where students match emotions to scenarios, helping them understand how emotions relate to events.

The binder also includes a page for displaying emotion labels for extra practice. All cards are attached with velcro for easy rearranging, and the laminated pages ensure durability. The pages are three-hole punched for convenient storage in a binder.

What’s Included:

  • 8-page instruction guide
  • 6 pages with “What Should You Say?” cards
  • 3 pages for sorting emotions
  • 4 pages for labeling emotions
  • 1 sheet with 30 emotion labels (with extras for multiple students)

This binder is a fantastic tool for teaching social skills and emotions through pictures and conversations rather than focusing on right or wrong answers. It’s an excellent fit for students familiar with PECS, but it’s not intended to replace therapy or individualized treatment plans. Emotions and social situations can be tricky to navigate, especially for children with special learning needs, so always consider their abilities and goals when using this tool.

Ages: 5 and up.
